The mountains in the distance were illuminated by the light of the planets that graced the sky with their majesty. The velvet cloak of heaven looked down upon the scene below, as the love story of two beings came to a close; one immortal, one mortal. Her pale skin shone even paler in the moonlight, a beautiful crystal canvas marred by the dark, bleeding wound above her fading heart. He lowered her gently to the watery ground, his arms trembling. Pain tightened its merciless fist around his heart as he cradled her in his arms, saying nothing, listening only to the faint sound of her last breaths, afraid to speak lest they disappear. She was being taken from him... the one living creature who understood him, who loved him. Without her, life was a dim crypt of broken dreams and haunting memories. What injustice was in the world that she should die? The wings on his back truly belonged to her, for she was an angel, the light of his world. Her eyes fluttered closed, lips slightly parted as her breathing grew fainter and fainter. His eyes burned as he whispered his parting words to the one true love of his life, "Do not go where I cannot follow..." Far below the shimmering cloak of night, the heartbeats of an angel's lover fade into silence. The only sound that breaks the darkness is the tears of a broken immortal.
This piece was a really emotional one for me. I spent a lot of time on it and it is my current personal favorite. Thank you SO much to all the stock providers for making this manipulation happen.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
